We want more fairness! How to defend the interests of european authors and artists

Income, visibility, digital economy: tools of literary politics for European authors and artists

Two minutes: This is exactly the time frame in which authors at WIPO meetings in Geneva have time to articulate their legitimate interests in front of the assembled states of the world. But whether two minutes or several hours of consultations, open letters, resolutions or #hashtag activism: how do authors and artists become active for their concerns today? Why is this necessary, what challenges do we have to face besides writing and publishing?

How do federations such as the European Writers’ Council for its 150,000 European writers act for their interests, or’ Communities such as the Initiative Authors’ Rights (Germany, Initiative Urheberrecht), which represents 35 organisations of 140,000 authors and creators in Germany, in politics and society?

Katharina Uppenbrink (CEO and spokesperson of Initiative Urheberrecht) and Nina George, President of EWC, talk about money, voluntary work, total failure and the secret laws of political fine-tuning. Moderation: Jens. J. Kramer, Chair of Syndikat e.V.,  Association of German Language Crime Writers

The Panel will be held on the Frankfurt Book Fair 2020, October 2020.
