Ireland: Irish Writers’ Union Submission on the EU Copyright Directive

On the whole, in line with our colleagues in the European Writers Council and other artist organisations, the Irish Writers Union welcomed the passage of the Directive (EU) 2019/790 of the European Parliament and of the Council on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market.

Many of the articles bring valuable protections to content creators such as authors and there are some particularly welcome clauses on improving unfair publishing contracts.
