Our members rely on us to provide them with up-to-date information about the issues we work on.

Collection and use of data

Organisations joining the European Writers’ Council (EWC) are required to supply contact details for representatives in order to enable EWC to:
share news;
communicate; and,
organise events with its membership.

EWC maintains a Members Database comprising the following information:
Personal information: names, contact and address details of representatives of member organisations
Other than as described above, personal data is never released to a third party without the member’s prior permission.

EWC will publicly share a list of organisations that are members, as well as the identity of representatives of EWC steering committee. The details of organisations will only be those that are publicly available. The identity of Steering Committee members will only include details they have volunteered to share.

Rights in relation to data

EWC members can contact us to correct the data we hold in respect of their organisation and representatives (where relevant). The members’ area is open to all members of EWC. Members are given online access when they join EWC. Subsequent access to the Members’ area requires entering a username/email address and password which is encrypted and known only to the member.
Security of data provided to EWC.

When storing and processing the personal data provided by members, EWC will take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration or unauthorized disclosure or access including through use of data encryption and other measures. Prior to introducing new systems or technologies relevant to the processing of personal data, EWC will undertake the necessary impact assessments with a particular focus on any associated risks.

EWC will retain contact details for member representatives until this relationship changes.
