Association of Catalan Language Writers (Spain) survey: professional authors are hit the most during the Covid-19 crisis by income losses

18th June 2020

The most professional authors (more than 50% of their income comes from literary works) are the most affected by the Corona crisis and its consequences, says a survey among writers writing in catalan language.

26.05.2020 The Association of Catalan Language Writers, L’Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC), conducted a survey in April 2020 to determine the situation of writers in the face of the coronavirus crisis and the measures needed.

The survey was open to writers (writers and translators of all literary genres), whether they are members of AELC or not. It consisted of 12 test questions and one with an open answer. It was answered by more than 15% of AELC members. According to the results of the survey, the most professional authors (more than 50% of their income comes from literary works) are the most affected by the current situation, as shown in the graphs on the homepage ( in catalan).
